Trans Latinx Talk: The Intersection of Transgenderism and Latinidad

Monday, November 14, 2016 - 5:00pm to 6:30pm
Gallery, La Casa Cultural: Latino Cultural Center, 301 Crown St

La Casa is sponsoring a talk for Transgender Awareness Weeks focusing on the intersection of Transgenderism and Latinidad.

The speaker will be Cecilia Gentili, a trans latinx activist based in Queens, NY. She is an immigrant from Argentina who is a widely respected advocate for trans rights in New York City. Gentili serves as the Trans Health Coordinator for the APICHA Community Health Center. She also works as a mentor and advocate within her barrio, Jackson Heights, Queens.

The purpose of our event is the strengthening of our community by bringing awareness and visibility to the intersectionality of transgenderism and latinidad. It is rare that this line of dialogue is opened, and we hope that in doing so we celebrate and show the trans latinx members of our community that they are valuable and loved. La Casa should be a home for everyone, so we welcome the opportunity to have our community listen and learn about its transgender members.

We will be serving dinner, so come eat with us and listen to Cecilia Gentili speak!
