The Wallace-Sexton Travel Funds provide a limited number of students the opportunity to attend the National LGBTQ Task Force Creating Change Conference each January, covering the cost of transportation, registration and shared hotel rooms. This conference brings together activists working on LGBTQ political, social and cultural issues from around the United States and offers strategy, skills and networking sessions, small and large over the course of the weekend. It is held in a different city each year. More information is available at the Creating Change website.
Wallace-Sexton Travel funds will cover the cost of train fare, registration and shared hotel room. Students are responsible for their own food costs, but a Youth Hospitality Suite sponsored by the Conference provides some free food for conference attendees.
Yale undergraduate, graduate and professional students are eligible to apply.
The Office of LGBTQ Resources begins accepting applications at the beginning of each Fall semester for Wallace-Sexton Travel Funds for the Creating Change Conference, held in late January each year. Applications should include a statement of current and previous involvement in LGBTQ activism, what the applicant hopes to get from the conference, and any future activism that would be informed by attendance at the conference.
Applications for Creating Change 2018 in Washington D.C. will be accepted in Fall 2017.
The application form can be accessed here.
