Have you ever wondered what the asylum process is like in the U.S. and how its changed during the Trump Administration? Estamos Unidos will be giving a presentation providing a broad overview of U.S. asylum law on Saturday, November 16 from 10:30 am — 12:15 pm in the Office Cafe(lunch provided).
We will discuss concepts such as past persecution and well-founded fear, the five protected grounds and the establishment of a nexus to these grounds, and humanitarian asylum. We will also go over the administration’s recent changes to asylum law and procedures, which include requiring asylum seekers to remain in Mexico, the “asylum ban” and family separation.
