Join BlackOut, De Colores, and Queer + Asian in the NACC for our Pride Month event, an intercultural queer storytelling session! The theme of this semester’s storytelling session is Stories for Self-Preservation. For the QTPOC individual, it can be difficult to have a positive self-image. Racism, homophobia, and transphobia compound wreaking material and psychic damage in our lives. We wish this event to be a space of resistance and self-preservation for people to come talk about internalized oppression, self-love, and growth. Come tell us how being a member of a marginalized group has impacted your self-image,and . Sshare your vision for a future self capable of radical love. And, lLet’s come up with steps that can lead us there.
Worried about the intimacy of such an event? Whether you’re queer, questioning, or an ally, you’re free to join us without divulging your personal history. Everyone is welcome to listen without the pressure of speaking.
It might be difficult to think of a story on the spot, so it may help to prepare a written piece or a few bullet points beforehand. There will be snacks!
