Transgender/Non-Binary Health: How to advocate for yourself in medical settings

In person
Tuesday, November 2, 2021, 5:30pm to 7:00pm

Entering medical spaces as a trans/non-binary person can be intimidating, traumatic, overwhelming, and dehumanizing. This workshop will discuss the questions: What does health and wellness mean to us, what should we know when entering a medical providers office or hospital, what are helpful questions to ask, what do we need to know about our own health and wellness to get the care we need, what are the ways to take care of ourselves through medical transition such as surgery and/or hormones if that is the transition we choose, what are the health screenings we should be aware of regardless of medical interventions, and how can we help take care of each other. Hosted by Nathan Levitt, Director of LGBTQ and Gender Justice Learning at the Yale School of Nursing.
