Recent data from the CDC reveals a concerning surge in syphilis cases, marking the highest levels observed since the 1950s. Over the past few years alone, there has been an alarming 80% increase in reported cases. The increase in syphilis rates is not occurring in isolation, however; it intersects with the prevalence of other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV, reflecting a broader pattern of health disparities and systemic challenges in health care access. This reality necessitates that health professionals break down the silos that often plague health interventions, instead taking a syndemic approach to simultaneously address these issues and their intersections.
