The Yale LGBTQ Center is located in Founder’s Hall at 135 Prospect Street, just across from Pauli Murray College. 

Our Lounge

The  Lounge within the Yale LGBTQ Center is a dynamic space primarily used for community drop-ins, study space, and small groups. Featuring rotating community art galleries, our Stonewall Library, educational, pride swag, and safe sex supplies, digital displays, and our public access computers and printer, this lounge plays a critical role in the Yale LGBTQ Center mission.

The LGBTQ Center Café

The café within the Yale LGBTQ Center is a dynamic multi-purpose space primarily used for community reservations, socials, and as a classroom. Featuring rotating community art galleries with feature lighting, moveable furniture, a projector with surround sound, digital displays, a board game library, and a communal industrial-style kitchen, the café plays a critical role in the Yale LGBTQ Center mission. It is the perfect space for formal events, casual gatherings, group meetings, and independent study.

The cafe can be reserved by organizations affiliated with the Yale LGBTQ Center during drop-in hours (3pm-10pm).  Non-affiliated organizations and university departments may reserve the cafe outside of drop-in hours for a fee that covers staffing and cleaning.

To check availability, visit our reservations calendar.  Please note that we are closed during holidays and during recesses.  

If you are an affiliated group leader at the Yale LGBTQ Center, please contact our Assistant Director of Operations Matthew Farley (matthew.farley@yale.edu) to reserve the cafe. To affiliate with the center, please schedule a virtual appointment with the Director of LGBTQ Resources.

If you are an outside group or unaffiliated organization, there is a reservation fee to support LGBTQ programs and resources at Yale.

FAQs regarding Space Reservations

Organizations affiliated with the Yale LGBTQ Center may reserve the Cafe free of charge during the semester when the Yale LGBTQ Center is open and is staffed, between 3pm and 10pm (Sunday-Friday; note we are closed on Saturdays). Events must end by 9:30 pm, to allow you adequate time for cleanup. 

Check the calendar embedded below for availability, and contact matthew.farley@yale.edu about reservations. Note that the 25Live calendar displayed in OrgSync does not include the Yale LGBTQ Center’s scheduled events.

The space can be reserved by unaffiliated organizations between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm for a fee, to defray the cost of staffing and when availability allows Sunday - Friday 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm.  Check the calendar for availability, contact matthew.farley@yale.edu about reservations at least two weeks before the proposed date. The usage fee should be paid via COA transfer or check at least one week before the event is held.  These funds help support the Yale LGBTQ Center programs and/or operations.  Our Director of Operations, Matthew can provide COA information.

Your reservation must include adequate time for setup and cleanup. Review the checklist below beforehand, and consult the receptionist on duty with any questions. Please return the room to its original configuration by the end of your reservation, unless instructed otherwise by our staff. If you use the kitchen, you must clean up after your event—custodial services do not include the kitchen. Failure to restore the space to its previous state will result in an additional fee and loss of use privileges.

End-of-event checklist

  • Furniture: return to original configuration
  • Tables, counters and stovetop: wipe with damp blue microfiber cloth or Clorox wipes
  • Dishes: load dishwasher; or wash, dry and put away
  • Trash (Friday & Sunday): trash should be placed in parking lot dumpsters
